Tiwanaku
Church Monoliths

The local Catholic Church took these two monoliths from Tiwanaku and placed them before the church.  Of course, the Church considers the monoliths pagan idols, blah, blah, blah, the usual hypocritical horse manure.  Recently some of the government workers at Tiwanaku suggested returning these monoliths to the Tiwanaku ruins.  The church and the local people refused.  Go figure...

I felt these monoliths were fascinating, as Mr. Spock would say.  They give an entirely different impression of the Tiwanaku site.  These monoliths are more curvy and lyrical and fluid, almost Asian.  Very different from the other monoliths which are very squarish and rigid, like the ancient Egyptians statues and stelae.
