Becan
Central Plaza
Temple IX

After visiting Temple VIII, we walked on to Temple IX.  Temple IX was my favorite temple at Becan.  A full-tilt yummy pyramid with a steep staircase and great view from the top.  Enrique and I made an offering on top.  I also brought out Dele’s crystal skull “Yucatan” to observe the view.  I loved walking up and down this pyramid.

According to the INAH Plaque accompanying this temple, Temple IX is the tallest building in Becan, reaching a height of approximately 32 meters (about 104 feet) above the plaza.  INAH posted a sign requesting that people not hike up this pyramid, so I suspect that next year this pyramid will also be closed.
