Chichen Itza
The Nunnery Complex
“The Annex”

Right next to “the Church” is “the Annex”.  “The Annex” was done in a combination of Puuc and Chenes (monster mouth doorway) architectural styles.

“The Annex” is my favorite temple in the Nunnery Complex and the whole of Chichen Itza.  I absolutely love the figure above the door; he appears to have a halo above his head.  The whole temple radiates Love and Beauty.  I can sit before this temple all day.

According to the INAH Plaque accompanying this temple, the entrance resembles a cavernous mouth below a dignitary seated on a skyband inside a niche of feathers.  Above the door is a long inscription.
