Tiwanaku
Akapana Pyramid

After passing through the site entrance, the first temple you encounter at Tiwanaku is the Akapana Pyramid.  The Bolivian Government is currently excavating this pyramid, which now looks more like a pyramid than the mud hill Adele and I experienced back in January 2004.


The Akapana Pyramid is T-shaped, just like the temple at Puma Punku.  On top of the pyramid is a gate similar to the Gate of the Sun only fallen down, an excavated area with tunnels beneath it, and some stones with unusual magnetic properties.  I did not feel much at the pyramid; I guess I was too focused on the Gate of the Sun...
