The Observatory

After the Pyramid of the High Priest and the Platform of the High Priest comes the Observatory.  The Observatory has a circular temple set upon a rectangular base.

According to the INAH plaque accompanying the Obervatory, the 3 windows in the circular temple are associated with the movements of Venus and the movements of the Sun during the Equinoxes.  Also, Carnegie Foundation excavations from 1925 to 1931 discovered 6 superimposed constructions.  The Mayans recorded the cycles of the Sun, Moon, Venus, and constellations such as the Pleiades (Tzab in Mayan) from the Observatory.  Archaeologists believe that the Mayans constructed the Observatory between the Terminal Classic and Early Post Classic Periods.

I liked the Observatory; it felt good.
